Max Roach adalah salah satu drummer legend asal amerika yang lahir pada 10 januari 1924 yang bermain perkusi drum di genre jazz.Drummer yang mempunyai nama asli Maxwell Lemuel Roach ini lahir di Kota Pasquotank, california. Dia bermain drum sejak umur 4 tahun, ibunya adalah seorang penyanyi gospel.
Di tahun 1942 Max memulai bermain musik jazz dan bergabung dengan jazz club di 52nd street, 78th street dan broadway.
